Jewellery Care

Jewellery Care

We want you to get the most out of your jewellery so we have compiled a little jewellery care guide that will help you all.

Perfume & body lotions:

When you are applying your body lotions or perfume please make sure you do this first before putting on your jewellery, leave a few minutes for lotions etc are absorbed into the skin..

Cleaning products:

We also recommend taking off all jewellery when using cleaning solutions.

Bath, Sea & Swimming pool:

We recommend taking off all jewellery when enjoying a lovely swim in the sea or swimming pool and even a bath. This is due to the salt water and chlorine damaging the surface of the metal. If you are using products in the bath or shower we’d recommend avoiding using this on jewellery.

If you find your jewellery is wet from washing your hands, the shower then we suggest drying your jewellery completely before putting back on or in your jewellery box as wet jewellery can tarnish a lot more quickly.

Natural patina:

All the jewellery we make has been designed to live on the body. However as we wear jewellery it starts to take on its own character, meaning it becomes tarnished and small scratches can appear. Any matt jewellery will end up polished and any polished items will end up matt. Creating the same finish in the end.

We offer one free clean up of your jewellery to bring back to life and remove any scratches. We will do our best to remove deep scratches as much as possible. You will need to send into us via a recorded delivery and pay for the delivery back to you. After this we can provide a refresh of your jewellery but there will be a charge for this. You can also take it to a local jewellers to reduce the need for shipping.

Hot weather & Sweat:

Hot weather and sweat speed up the tarnishing process so it is best to take jewellery off when exercising and place in the jewellery box or airtight container.

Cleaning your jewellery:

Recycled Sterling silver: To keep your jewellery looking clean we suggest using a lint free soft cloth. You can buy special cleaning cloths for sterling silver however do not use these on any gold pieces as theses will be to abrasive for your gold jewellery. You can use over the counter silver cleaner these contain very harsh chemicals and wouldn’t recommend them so do so at your own risk.

Alternatively we have heard that using lemon juice and olive oil as a paste under warm water helps bring back shine to the piece. Make sure all jewellery is completely dry before putting back on your body or box.

Gold plated: To clean these just use warm soapy water and dry with a soft cloth.
Make sure all jewellery is completely dry before putting back on your body or box.

Recycled gold: To clean you can use warm soapy water and dry with a soft lint free cloth. You can also buy gold polishing cloths which are nice and soft on the metal. Make sure all jewellery is completely dry before putting back on your body or box.
